'Poo Protesters' strike again

CAPE TOWN - The N2 in Cape Town was briefly closed to traffic this afternoon, after the city’s so-called poo protesters struck again. This time their target was one of the city's busiest highways.

Protesters forced a truck driver off the road and used the vehicle to block all traffic. Human waste was strewn across the road. Police managed to open the highway a half an hour later.

The protesters are calling for permanent brick toilets, instead of the portable flush ones that the city is rolling out.

In recent months, the protesters have alerted the media to the time and place of their attacks. They have targeted the Provincial Legislature, the airport and highways. They have also struck at Democratic Alliance meetings in regional townships.

The Western Cape Government says the so-called poo protests are part of the ANC’s campaign to make the province ungovernable.  It says the protesters are doing everything in their power to stop effective service delivery in the DA-led Province. -eNCA
