Several residents from a temporary relocation settlement in Delft will have to wait until next week to hear whether they will be evicted or not.
The Western Cape Housing Department sought an eviction order from the high court to relocate the families. The matter was heard on Thursday.
The 26 residents are going to great lengths to delay the building of dozens of low cost houses as the part of the N2 Gateway Project. They refused to move from their temporary homes to another plot of land, 500m from them.
So far, the delay has cost the provincial government almost R3 million.
The department cannot make any promises, saying they, like thousands of others, first to have qualify.
