The ANC has thrown its weight behind Khayelitsha residents' protests over unenclosed toilets, a councillor said on Thursday.
Lwandle councillor Xolani Sotashe also praised ANC Youth League (ANCYL) leaders arrested when violence erupted in Khayelitsha earlier this week. He said they had led from the front.
"We support the people's struggle. This is no longer a Makhaza residents' problem, it's the ANC's problem," Sotashe said.
He said ANC provincial leaders had met on Wednesday to discuss the toilet saga and agreed to support the residents.
