Firefighters have been at the scene of a blaze in the Mandela Park informal settlement near Hout Bay on Monday afternoon.
Three shacks were gutted when a fire swept through the area leaving at least eight people destitute.
Cape Town Fire Service’s Theo Layne said that the fire was under control.
“We have two fire tenders, one water tender and one rescue vehicle at the scene. There were no injuries”
Disaster Management’s Charlotte Powell said officials have been distributing food parcels and blankets to those left homeless. She added that they would help the affected families rebuild their homes.
