Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema, says his party will support the re-establishment of an ad-hoc committee on Nkandla.
He has addressed journalists in Parliament on Sunday.
Shortly before the national elections last month, Parliament established an ad-hoc committee to deal with the findings of Public Protector Thuli Madonsela on the multi-million-rand upgrades at the private home of President Jacob Zuma.
The committee never got off the ground, due to the fourth Parliament which was ending as the country went to the polls.
Opposition parties in Parliament have already called for the re-establishment of the committee.
Malema says they won’t retreat until the committee is re-established.
“We want the ad-hoc committee on Nkandla. We won’t retreat. We want reports and President Zuma must be held accountable for resources misused. We support the Public Protector. Parliament must still debate the Nkandla report.”
Meanwhile, Malema says his party will table a motion in Parliament that all public representatives should by law be required to use public facilities, such as hospitals, schools and transport.
The party has 25 seats in the National Assembly and six in the National Council of Provinces.
Malema says forcing MPs, ministers and MECs to use public facilities, will improve the quality of services.
“Let all of us make use public hospitals and schools - we will put that motion…we want schools and hospitals upgraded. They won’t be upgraded if leadership is not using it.”
