The Safer Candle

Kevin’s Kandles is an innovative concept that provides alternative illumination. They have the potential to make a huge impact in Third World countries as they are much safer than traditional candles, inexpensive – half the cost, convenient and environmentally friendly.

Many organizations promote solar generated energy or installation of electric power grids throughout under developed and developing countries. Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is, that these options are cost prohibitive and decades away. Application is only possible if supported by Relief Organizations on a donation basis. Power grids will never be feasible throughout rural communities.

Kevin’s Kandles promote economic development and sustainability NOW!
Current sources indicate that in West Africa candles are sold at 6 for $ 1.50USD.
- A dwelling requiring 30 candles monthly will pay $ 7.50USD per month for 8-10 hours of illumination.
- If Kevin’s Kandles are retailed for $ 6.00 per pack and vegetable oil is sold at $ 25.00 per 5 gallon container, the cost to the end-user will be approximately $ 3.50 for monthly candle illumination. A savings of +/- $ 4.00 per month.

Economic Impact on Developing Countries:
- Currently, candles that are sold provide little economic stimulation for these countries. The $7.50 candles are imported and $ 7.00+ immediately leaves the country.
- Kevin’s Kandles however rely on domestic vegetable oil. The import product now represented as $ 2.00 per month is complimented by the local vegetable oil at $1.50 per month.
- In this way almost 50% of the monies generated from this consumable product remain in the country, thus stimulating their national economic development and sustainability.
