Three adults and a child have been admitted to hospital after a Golden Arrow bus first knocked an electricity pole and then rammed into two shacks in Khayelitsha this morning.
The shacks were flattened when the bus veered off Mew Way near Baden Powell Drive, soon after 6am.
Eye witnesses said the occupants of the shacks had been asleep when the bus crashed into their homes.
Metro Rescue officials confirmed that the injured had been taken to Tygerberg Hospital.
The bus was empty, and the bus driver was not injured.
Despite the heavy rain, scores of residents stood watching as the scene was cleared. The bus was finally removed at 9am. As residents tried to salvage their neighbours' belongings, a neighbour-hood watch team helped clear debris from the scene. - Cape Argus
