Two people, including a three-year old boy, have been killed in separate shack fires in Port Elizabeth.
Police spokesperson, Ernest Sigobe, says the child died late last night. It is believed his mother left him alone to visit a shop in the Chris Hani informal settlement in New Brighton. When she returned, the fire was raging out of control.
The fire was apparently caused by an overturned oil lamp.
In the other incident, also in the same area, a 35-year-old man died when his shack burned down. The cause of that fire is unknown. - SABC
